I have been a member of Ancestry.com since 1997 and have never been duped by
them. I always receive notification of my expiration and told that the
membership fees would automatically be deducted if I didn't tell them
otherwise.
You didn't read the fine print. It tells you that the renewal is automatic
if you don't notify them to cancel.
As far as the check charges go, they are your fault for not having the money
in the bank.
I see that you are using Rootsweb mailing lists, which are part of
Ancestry.com.
If you feel the way you do why are you using their services?
besides your problem should be taken up with Ancestry.com and not vented on
the lists. We can't do a thing for you.

Subject: [UTAH] Re:Ancestry.com`s trickery
I wonder how many people have been duped by ancestry over the years. I fell
for the 2 week free trial and have had my checking account deducted without
my
knowingly authorizing it plus a bank charge of $30.00 for being overdrawn.
I think any LDS persons connected with this organization should be, if
not excommunicated, then at least reprimanded for "shady" and possibly
fraudulent practices.
I would suggest that the FHC`s warn people of the practices of this
organization and distance themselves completely from the company.
I got "taken"
I might have joined if I had been properly notified but now I never will.
