The Sun, San Bernardino, CA - December 14, 2004

MARILYN BALLARD PALMER dedicated herself to her church and helped with the dedication of the Redlands Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The longtime Redlands resident died Nov. 26 at Redlands Community Hospital. The cause of death was not available. She was 71.

She was born June 26, 1933, in Salt Lake City. She graduated from Brigham Young University in 1956 and moved to Redlands. Palmer was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints 5th Ward. She was state president of the church’s Relief Society. In 2003 Palmer served on the open house committee that oversaw the public tours before the dedication of the newly built temple. Palmer also served as president of the PTA at Cope Junior High School in Redlands in 1980.

Survivors include her husband Edward; seen sons, Gregg Palmer, David Palmer, Brian Palmer and Chris Palmer, all of Redlands, Doug Palmer of Corona, Matt Palmer of Moreno Valley and Brett Palmer of South Jordan, Utah; two daughters, Sherell Passey of Tacoma, Wash., and Patrice McKinnon of Redlands; 35 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services have been held. Emmerson-Bartlett Memorial Chapel in Redlands handled arrangements.
