I am just now going through this. A couple kind list members volunteered
to see what they could do about getting photos of my grandfather's
tombstone on his old homeplace, owned by others since 1915. They needed
directions to the farm, and I had no idea how to give them those
directions since I had not been there in over 30 years. I went online
and plugged in the name of the town where the farm is located. Among my
returns, up popped a real estate agency right in that town. I thought,
"who would better know the properties in the area than a real estate
agent?" I took down their phone numbers and gave them a call with my
unusual request to help locate the directions to the farm. They were
MOST courteous and helpful, and even volunteered to help get what I need
if it can't be obtained otherwise. They knew exactly the farm I
described to them. Of course, I had to know the name of the last known
owners, and be able to give a bit of a description. I feel certain that
with the help of all these people I will soon have photos of my
grandfather's Confederate soldier's grave marker. His is the only marker
in the plot that holds about 13 people.
