Hello Barbara,

I am not sure this is your man, but did find a Charles Mitchell in 1850
Russell Co. VA. Here is what I find on him.

Josephus Weddle Age 27, Male, Carpenter, Born Floyd Co. VA,
Elizabeth 29, Female,
Rockingham Co. VA,
McElvin 6, Male,
Floyd Co. VA,
Arnold S. L. 3, Male,
Floyd Co. VA,
Emily 2, Female,
Russell Co. VA,
Ethelbert S. 1, Male,
Russell Co. VA,
Charles Mitchell 23 or 29, Male, Carpenter, Born NC,

This is from 1850 Russell Co. VA,
Township: District 54,
Image: 16,
Roll: M432_975,
Page: 225,

I will need more information on John W. to be able to find him. Was he
married, wifes name, childrens names, when and where he was born ? If this
is not the right Charles, I will need more information on him to. Anything
you can let me know might help.
