It is a mess, isn't it. Not to be chalked up to
the transcriber, but to the enumerator's handwriting
and probably spelling!

It does look like Corn-

What follows could easily be an o, but I suspect it
is, indeed, Cornelius.

Thanks very much both for the insight and the image!

Vince

The 1880 LDS Online transcription of the name
of this fellow must be off, I think - unless
it was the one enumerating this fellow's name.

Some called him Cornelius Washington FLYNN,
but the LDS Online reads:

Corriolonus N. FLINN Self M Male W 52 VA Wagon Maker VA VA
Martha E. FLINN Wife M Female W 51 VA Keeping House VA VA
Adelia F. FLINN Dau S Female W 21 VA At Home VA VA
Roberta M. FLINN Dau S Female W 19 VA At Home VA VA
Frances A. FLINN Dau S Female W 16 VA At Home VA VA
Edward W. FLINN Son S Male W 14 VA Clerk In Store VA VA
Mattie I. FLINN Dau S Female W 12 VA At Home VA VA
Robert A. FLINN Son S Male W 9 VA VA VA
Richard E. FLINN Son S Male W 5 VA VA VA

I am interested in this fellow, since his wife was
Martha E. TERRELL.

Can you tell me exactly what his first name says on
the census?

Thanks,
Vince Summers
