Hi,
The other day I requested the actual image for the 1880 Census
(and it turned out for good reason!). Its actual results and the
transcription from LDS Online are below:
1880 LDS Online Transcribed Census:
John A. BUNCH Self M Male W 32 VA Merchant VA VA
Sarah E. BUNCH Wife M Female W 31 VA Keeps House VA VA
Norman C. BUNCH Son S Male W 7 VA VA VA
Lee ROLBY Son S Male W 6 VA VA VA
Roston S. ROLBY Son S Male W 4 VA VA VA
ROLBY Son S Male W 1 VA VA VA
Samuel Miller, Albemarle, Virginia
Family History Library Film 1255352
NA Film Number T9-1352
Page Number 147A
More accurately, the image reads:
311 311 Bunch John A W M 32 Merchant (rest of image missing that I received)
Sarah E W F 31 Wife Keeps House
Norman C W M 7 Son
Rolly Lee W M 6 Son
Roston S W M 4 Son
No Name W M 1 Son
Note that there is no surname ROLBY here, and that the ones listed as
such were really BUNCHes.- VES.
Now I am not certain who Roston S may be (but I suspect maybe it should
read Ralston?), and of course, I do not know who No Name would be, but
1900 may well reveal this. And I have reason to believe John & Sarah had *many*
children! So I am hoping someone can look up 1900 for me. What county?
Well, I must list it as unknown, but it seems almost certain to be Albemarle
County. I suspect the Samuel Miller area must refer to the area around
Batesville/Crozet where the Miller (military) School now exists.
Thanks!
Vince Summers
