Thank goodness!
I posted the petition (that had been forwarded to me) to every Rootsweb mailing list I belong to in the hopes that all of us researchers everywhere would band together and try to change the possible outcome, and it's people like you who may make that happen! Who knows when we might want to show up at the National Archives ourselves one day and take advantage of after hours research?? That avenue needs to remain open for every American. I appreciate your adding your signature to the petition, Marty. I hope you forward it to as many people as you can also :~)

P.S. Were your REYNOLDS' ever in Illinois or Virginia? My ancestor was James Madison REYNOLDS/Runnels/Ranals, b. 1798-1810 in Virginia (slim chance it may have been Ireland), married Amelia HAND 20 September 1832 in Greene Co., IL, and d. 1860 in Morgan County, IL. Their children were (all born circa 1830's - 1860):

I signed the petition as # 3,563 at 7:50 am and at 10:17 there
were 3,993 signators, so the public is definitely supporting
evening and weekend hours.
