Zachariah (also spelled sometimes as Zach, Zacariah) Spence was born in Carroll Co., Va on August 24, 1840, son of James & Nancy (Watson) Spence. He married an Elizabeth Epperson in Patrick Co., VA in 1858. May have possibly been in Wytheville, VA area in 1861. He enlisted in Confederate Army in Tazewell Co., VA in 1863 and was with them one year. He was paroled by Fed. Gov't in Charleston, Kanawha Co., WV in 1865. States in parole papers he from Smyth Co., VA. He came to Gallia County, OH in 1866. He had a daughter (Nancy E. Spence) born in 1868. He married May 1, 1874 in Putnam Co., W.Va. Rachel Lambert. Listed in 1880 Gallia Co., OH census. In 1910 he was in Kanawha Co., WV living with his third wife's son's family (Gilberts).
Any help is appreciated. I have found him in 1850 census, 1880 census and 1910 census. Still trying to track him down in 1860 and 1870 censuses. He moved around so much it is hard to locate him sometimes. Thanks for your assistance.
