Who among us has never crashed a hard drive? How much of your
genealogical data can you afford to lose? I just installed some
CD-burning software, and it crashed my hard drive. I had to wipe the
whole hard drive, so everything was lost.

The happy part of this story is that I backed up all of my genealogy
files just a week before the crash. 'Puter is up and running again, and
I'm a little older and a little wiser. It's not a bad idea to back up
your e-mail address book, too.

When your data's gone, it's really gone. Don't let it happen to you!
