I am writing to see if anyone on this mailing list can supply me with
some information on Stewart Donohue (b. abt. 1807) who lived in Jackson
County in 1850, and obviously through the early 1860s as he was murdered
while home (Mt. Alto?) on medical leave during the Civil War. I have not
read anything official concerning this incident but only going by what I have
heard via email from other Donohue descendants. If there is someone reading
this who could give me some more details of this incident OR anything
pertinent to Stewart Donohue's family, it would be greatly appreciated and
welcome.

I have only just now discovered that Stewart Donohue was my
ggg-grandfather so I don't have a lot of data gathered yet. I did find that
his parents were William Donohue and Ingra (last name unknown) who came from
Randolph County, a Joseph "Donoho" the possible father of William. Stewart
married Adaline McPherson in 1839 Mason County, VA.

Stewart had a brother named Hiram Donohue, born about 1805, he married
first Mary "Cecy" Jaco and secondly, Lydia Smith. Hiram spent the better
part of his life in Mason County, my data indicates he died there in 1886.

I have found many various spellings of this surname ....Donohoe,
Donahue, Donahew but believe that most of them in the Mason, Jackson and
Roane County area to be descendants of the aforementioned William and Ingra
Donohue.

I look forward to any replies to my request.....and thanks very much in
advance.

Kind regards,
Sandi
