Runaways

Was Committed to the jail for the county of Alexandria, on the 24th inst. as a runaway, a mulatto girl named Nancy who says she is the property of Major John GAMBEL of the city of Washington. The said girl has on a dress of blue and red stripe cotton. The owner is desired to come prove property, pay charges, and take her away, otherwise she will be disposed of as the law directs.

Was committed to the jail for the county of Alexandria as a runaway on the 24th inst. a Negro man who calls himself Richard and says he is the property of Strother RUNER or RENO of Fauquier County, Va. between Buckland Mills and John GRAYs store. The said Negro is about 20 years of age, five feet five inches high, and well made, has a large scar nearly over the left eye, has on a yellow striped cotton coat, blue cotton and wool pantaloons. The owner is desired to come forward prove property, pay charges, and take him away, otherwise he will be disposed of as the law directs.
