Vivian,
I am sorry, I do not know any Arendalls, but that doesn't mean they are not
related to my line somewhere. We have lost track of several branches.
Specifically, my line starts in America when Robert READER (III) came to
Mecklenburg Co., VA in or before 1773. After a long search, I have found out
that he came from Yorkshire, England with his wife Grace (BRIGHAM) and that
there were at least two prior generations also named Robert, hence the (III).
He named one son Robert (IV or Jr.) and the other children were Thomas,
Jephthah/Jeptha, Jehu (some records have John), and Abisha/Bicey who married a
John BULLINGTON.
Robert(III) made his will in 1780 and it was proved in Mecklenburg in 1782.
Jeptha and Robert (IV) went to NC (by 1810) before going on to TN (by 1820).
Thomas went to NC also but died there in 1819. His family went on to TN. Jehu
went to KY by 1810. Jeptha left for IL in 1830 and the family stayed there in
Macoupin county until my Grandfather moved around the mid-south before settling
in St. Louis about 1930.
There were some Arnetts from NC through KY and IL who are related but no
Arendalls that I know of. The other in-laws in VA were CLARK, HARRISON, MULLINS,
amd ROBARDS.
