I may be mis-reading what you wrote but it doesn't sound like you know what
Dower Rights are.
Dower rights were that portion of a deceased husband's real property that a
widow was/is legally entitled to use during her
lifetime to support herself and their children. At common law, dower
consisted of a one-third interest in all the land that the husband owned
during the marriage.
