Another book that is very helpful is "Tobacco & Slaves" by Allan Kulikoff. He
come up with some demographics in the Chesapeake area from old records. The
average age of marriage (variable over the 1700s ) and the spacings between
children (30 months) are a bit diffferent from the numbers commonly used for
estimation.
