Subject: [VAAMELIA-L] Company of Capt. Samuel Sherwin, 1777

>From the book "Old Homes and Buildings of Amelia County, VA," vol. 2, by
Gibson Jefferson McConnaughey on pages 8, 9 & 10 in the article "Short
History of Amelia County, VA" by Mr. McConnaughey, tells:
A company was enlisted at Amelia Court House in 1777 under Capt. Samuel
Sherwin. According to the US War Department records, the men in this company
went to relieve Gen. Greene, and fought at Guilford Court House in North
Carolina, and later were at the surrender at Yorktown.

Can anyone tell me if there is a list of the men who served in that company
under Capt. Samuel Sherwin? I believe that Charles Hulme may have been one
of those men. I further believe he to be my ancestor, but lack the needed
documentation for proof.
