Subject: [VAAMHERS-L] Early Settlers Solution
Date: Fri, 3 Aug 2001 21:19:32 -0400

I've gotten a LOT of e-mails- most people on each mailing list want to
see all of A. Brown's names sent to their list so they don't have to
subscribe to a new list, but there are a few who don't want to have to wade
through tons of duplicate mailings that don't pertain to their lines. I
know the feeling as I get each post I make back to myself four times. And,
having some 50 odd lookup requests to fill, that's going to be a lot of mail
to be sending out.

Here's the solution that should make almost everyone happy: I will type
up the entire list and send out portions of it to the lists at a time. Say,
surnames A-C one mailing, D-F the next mailing and so on. Then when the
entire list is complete, anyone who would like the whole thing can e-mail me
and I'll send it as an attachment to them. I've typed all the "A" and "B"
surnames and almost all of the "C" names. When I complete the "C" surnames,
I'll mail one e-mail to each list (sorry, some might get a duplicate, but it
will be easy to delete just one every so often instead of several each
night). Then whenever I get "D", "E" and "F" typed up, I'll send that out
and so on. With small children running around the house, by the time I get
to type them, the mailings should be spaced out enough not to bother anyone.

One final thing, I will still send replies to the lookup requests
personally to each individual who sent me an e-mail, as some people have
written me that don't belong to any of the lists- someone just told them
about A. Brown's papers, but I can't be sure I won't miss someone unless I
do it that way.
