8. NEWS FROM ANCESTRY.COM: For years Ancestry.com has worked to ensure
that its subscribers would have access to records most essential to
genealogical research. This tradition was exemplified with the release
of the 1930 U.S. census images in April of this year when images of the
census were available online within hours of the official census release
by the National Archives.
Eighty-five percent of the 2,667 rolls of microfilm, and all but four of
the 58 U.S. States, territories, and the consular service are now
available on the site. While each of the fifteen U.S. censuses from
1790 to 1930 provides valuable demographic information, the 1930 census
includes information that gives clues into the daily lives of Americans,
such as where they worked, and whether or not they owned a radio. View
more than 100 million images, and counting, from the 1930 U.S.
census today.
