Subject: [VAAMHERS-L] More on William & Polly North
Date: Mon, 12 Aug 2002 19:51:11 -0400
Since I found the record of a marriage online for William North and Polly Ray in 1805, I did a little math and I think I may have answered at least some of my own questions since the records I found indicate that Polly Ray was born in 1785.
So if this William and Polly are related, they are grandparents to Margaret North Wilmore or at least of that generation. Margaret was born in 1837 when Polly Ray North would have been 62. Although Norths are scarce in VA records I have found so far, Williams and Pollys are numerous.
So possibly, William D., who would have been born in 1802 according to the 1860 Census is their son but the age is wrong. Maybe his wife, Mary Ann, gave the enumerator the information and didn't want to admit she was four years older than her husband. Who knows? I'm still trying to claim that I'm 39.
