Mary Mason,
the daughter of Peter H. Mason and Dianna Sorrells that was born in 1846.
I
don't have any more information on her. I don't know who she married.
The
Masons lived in Pedlar. The few sites I've looked up said Oronoco, which
is
very close to Irish Creek. When the Mormons went up there in 1884. They
listed the older people as appearing to be full blooded indians and the
younger ones as appearing to be part white but that their indian heritage
was still very apparent. They did give a actual description of Peter.
"He was of indian descent. His skin, being almost as dark as an
Indian's.
His hair was long and black. Mrs. Mason, his wife, was very old. She
said
what she thought and was somewhat of a doctress." That matches what I
have
been told, that Peter had long hair that he wore in a ponytail down his
back
and that Dianna was a "medicine woman".
