If anyone has come across the Amherst Poor House in either 1920 or 1930
census, I sure would be interested in page, etc. My great uncle and aunt
(Stinnett) were supposedly managers sometime during that period.

and his family lived "on site". All others are listed as "paupers". There's
something about seeing a 3 year old labelled as a "pauper" that is really
upsetting but I suppose we should be glad that there was some place for
people to go. People who had no famlies or means of support were really in
dire straits in those days.
