My great grandfather was Stafford Carter of Amherst County, Va. The township of New Glaskow. His wife's name was Louisa. He was also married to a Millie, and Pamela. I don't know if two of these ladies were the same and used the first name in one census and a middle name in the next or not.
He and Pamela had a daughter named Susan. He and Millie had a son named Stafford and twins Hope and Lafayette. Louisa had a son named Stanley. My grandfather's mother was Ollie Carter and Stafford was her father but I haven't found a birth record for her yet and don't know for certain which wife was her mother. My grandfather was listed on his birth record as Henry Carter. He was born between December 14, 1890 and January 4, 1891. Listed in the household with Stafford on the 1900 census were a daughter M. J.(23), a son James (16), his grandson Marshall (9), and a cousin Mary Anderson (75). Marshall's full name was Henry Marshall Alexander Carter. He eventually moved to Hot Coal WV. Are any of these names familiar to you?
