It has been said, that 4 brothers from Scotland, named:

Lawrence Campbell (m. Henrietta)
Henry Campbell (m. Charity)
George Campbell (m. Catherine <Caty>)
Neil Campbell

Came from Scotland to Virginia. At some point at least 3 of these men, the first 3 listed above, arrived in the area called Amherst Co VA.

The 1800 census, shows:
Larrance Campbell, as well as the sons of both Henry and George, as they had both died prior to the 1800 census, but had left their decendants in the area.
Lawrence had been executor of Henry's will.
It is said that Lawrence died in 1813.
The 1820 census shows Henrietta, listed as head of household, in Amherst Co.
It is said that Lawrence had a son Francis. Is this the Francis Campbell listed in the 1860 census, 80 yrs, living at Massies Mill, Nelson Co VA?

Does anyone know what happened to Neil Campbell? Anyone researching the name Neil in early Virginia?

Has anyone been checking in Perthshire, Scotland for the roots of Lawrence, Henry, George and Neil? Any new developements to report on the Scots records?

www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk Is this the correct website which will allow you to access actual government records, in Scotland, for a fee?
I had visited the site in the past, has anyone used it recently?

Has anyone used the www.familysearch.org records online, or microfilm records, to look specifically at Perthshire, Scotland, Campbell families?

Let's all work together, to uncover more information about the Campbell families who are in Nelson Co and Amherst Co, who are all related.

Best regards,
Lilly Martin
