I noticed the reference to the name of Cabell Wood. Was he related in
any way to the James Wood Jr. that married Betsy Duncan in 1809. Would
appreciate any information on the Wood family of Amherst Co. in the
early 1800s.

Thank you!

Lilly,

Thank you for looking that up for me.
AND for sending me a link.
It's nice to see someone but a connection to her and a set of parents
(William & Joyce Pattison Evans).
But poor Elpee - no more info on her than that - just who her parents
were? There's info on her siblings and who they
married and any children they might have had - but not Elpee.
She is in the Amherst Co., VA records.
I know she and John only had ONE child, but surely some one other than
our branch from her line is interested in what happened to William &
Joyce Evan's daughter, Elpee.
This researcher could have listed her 1790 marriage to John Phillips.
Which is right there in the Amherst Co marriage books. Or anything
about their daughter Elizabeth Phillips Wood. Even Elizabeth's life can
be followed in Amherst Co. documents! AND the lives of Elizabeth's
children - who all stayed right in that area.
John Phillips 1823 will says that he and Elpee's daughter, Elizabeth
"intermarried" Cabell Wood.
Do you know what this might be referring to? Is it because ELPEE was
Indian? Or could Cabell's "Wood" line have been
African American? Or what?
Anybody on the list have some knowledge about the folks from Amherst
Co., VA who could give me some clues?
Thanks again,

Pam
