Hello listers,

I am trying to find my great grandfather Edwin ROBERTS and his family in the
Washington DC area between 1894 and 1902.

I have the following information from Boyd's Directory of the District of
Columbia:

1894 - ROBERTS, Edwin, supt. 414 Virginia Ave SE
1895 - ROBERTS, Edwin, sec. 510 F NW, h 22 Washington, Anacostia
1896 - ROBERTS, Edwin, agt. 604 Tennessee Ave. NE
1897 - ROBERTS, Edwd, agt 548 Jefferson, Anacostia
1898 - ROBERTS, Edwin, agt 317 Pierce, Anacostia
1899 - ROBERTS, Edwin, agt 317 Pierce, Anacostia
ROBERTS, Richard H., clerk, 317 Pierce, Anacostia
1900 - ROBERTS, Edward, ins., 317 Pierce, Anacostia
ROBERTS, Richard H., clk, 317 Pierce, Anacostia
1901 - ROBERTS, Edwin, salesman, 317 Pierce, Anacostia
ROBERTS, Richard H., clerk, 317 Pierce, Anacostia

Only the 1895 entry gives an address which is clearly a home address. Does
anyone on the list know whether 317 Pierce would be a business address or a
home address?

In the period 1894 - 1898, the family should have included Edwin, his wife
Amelia, and their sons Richard, William, Archibald, Percival, Sydney, plus,
as time passed, Clarence, and Lawrence V.S.

Amelia died in 1898, and Edwin returned to England in 1901 or 1902. I would
be particularly interested to learn if he remarried in the period 1898 - 1902
while he was still in the US.

Is there any census, marriage, or electoral roll information for the period
that would help to sort this out?

Thanks in advance,
Paul
