W. W. Hinshaw was descended from Mary and Benjamin's son,
Thomas, and includes extensive notes about their family in
the records of South River Meeting. Dr. Lorand Johnson also
wrote about this family.

Descendants of Mary Bolling Moorman


1. MARY BOLLING MOORMAN; b. 19 Feb 1730/31 (19 12mo 1730)
Hanover Co., VA. When she was born, Mary's parents lived in
Hanover County, probably near present day Ashland. They
moved farther west near Green Springs in the part of Hanover
that became Louisa County at some point before Louisa was
created.

She m1. Benjamin Johnson, 19 Oct 1748 (19d 8mo 1748) Camp
Creek Monthly Meeting, Louisa Co., VA (Hinshaw, Encyclopedia
of American Quaker Genealogy, p. 286); m2. John Miller Sr. 6
Jun 1771 Bedford Co., VA (Ibid., p. 320); d. 9 Sep 1814 at
age 83.

Mary and Benjamin Johnson were received on certificate from
Cedar Creek dated 11 Feb 1764 on 17 Mar 1764 by South River
Monthly Meeting. They sold their land in Louisa County and
bought land in Bedford County in 1763 (Louisa County DB C,
p. 206, 10 May 1763; Bedford County DB 2, p. 130, 22 Feb
1763, p. 242, 23 Aug 1763).

She was widowed by the death of Benjamin 18 Aug 1769 (F.
Edward Wright, compiler, Quaker Records of South River
Monthly Meeting Virginia 1756-1800, p. 5). She was disowned
for marrying out of unity and by a priest on 20 Jul 1771 by
South River Monthly Meeting, Campbell Co., VA.

BENJAMIN JOHNSON was born on 30 Aug 1730 Hanover Co., VA. He
died on 18 Aug 1769 Bedford Co., VA, at age 38. His estate
was probated on 26 Sep 1769 Bedford Co., VA; Bedford County,
Virginia (WB 1, p. 86).

Oglethorpe Co., GA, at age 77. He was an ancestor of William
Wade Hinshaw, and great great grandfather of President
Lyndon Baines Johnson.

Co., VA; m. Lydia Ballard 27 Oct 1778.
iv.ANDREW MOORMAN; b. 7 Apr 1755 Louisa Co., VA; m. Mary

58. Grandfather of President Andrew Johnson.
