Sue,

There is a Soundex index for the 1910 census which is available on microfilm
at many libraries and family history centers. It may be available online at
the paid sites.

On the Soundex each last name has a code consisting of the beginning letter
and 3 numbers. Check out some of the sites like ancestry.com for info on how
to figure the code. The index cards are arranged by code number and then
alphabetical by first name.

Copy down all the info on the soundex card because you will need it to find
the exact location on the actual census record which is widely available on
microfilm and also online for a fee. Hope this helps.

Is there an index for the 1910 Census and if there is and someone has

access, could you look someone up for me?

I am trying to do some research on my grandfather, James RICE.

I recently got a copy of his death certificate from PA hoping to get the

names of his parents.

I got the certificate, but the parents were not listed, it said: unknown.

Well, it does list that he was born in Waugh, VA in 1901 so I am hoping that

he pops up on a census for 1910.

If anyone can help, I would appreciate it.
