I am looking for the ancestors and descendants of four brothers found in
and around Charlotte County in the 1760s and 1770s.

John Carter married Jeane (sometimes spelled as "Jane") Morton on July 5,
1768 in Charlotte County. He died between October 17776 and February 1777.
They had two daughters: Frances and Elizabeth. Jeane Morton married
Claiborne Barksdale on May 20, 1778 n Charlotte Co. John Carter left a will
which names his three brothers: Thomas, Robert, and James.

Thomas Carter had property in both Charlotte and Prince Edward Counties. He
was Under-sheriff of Prince Edward County from 1764 to 1765, under Sheriff
Thomas Scott. Thomas married Srarh Martin on May 24, 1764 in Prince Edward
County.

Robert Carter married Patty Barksdale on November 26, 1774 in Charlotte
County.

James Carter had land holdings in Prince Edward County. It is unknown if he
married.

Does anyone know who the parents of these four brothers were? Also, does
anyone know what became of their children, if they had any? I don't even
know if James Carter married. Any information would be useful. Thanks.
