Hi Victor,

I live in the Roanoke District (Aspen area) of Charlotte County, VA on a
plantation that was built by John Elam in 1832. We bought this place five
years ago, and I am working on the "genealogy" of the plantation and all the
people - white and black -- who were here. I'm from Maryland originally and
I have no family connection to VA at all. Still, I'm having a great time
with my house families!

I have heard of the Dabbs family, including the famous builder Josiah Dabbs
who built several of the big antebellum homes around here (and possibly our
middle addition). I have seen Richard Dabb's name in passing, but I haven't
looked in to him or the family. Do you still have family here?

Kathy Liston
