Just a reminder. The entire set of three volumes of Chalkleys books are
online at:

www.rootsweb.com/~chalkley

Thre are indexes at the end of each volume's table of contents. Even if you
do not have anyone in old Augusta Co VA, you should take a look. Augusta Co
of that period covered a much, much larger area than current Augusta Co.

Since they are simply text files, with blessedly no bells and whistles,
songs, or fancy graphics, they load very quickly.

In addition, there are numerous references to folks back east in our neck of
the woods. For example, I was looking for my one bona fide resident of
Augusta (Joshua Hadley, there only ten years) and ran across court records to
wit:

1750s or so -- John Pleasants of Henrico, numerous suits.

Since thePleasants were quite well off I am wondering if he bought
headrights/patents and had some subsequent problems.

I think it is wonderful that schools are buying it....I am not a big one for
reading long volumes off of the computer.
