Subject: [VACLARKE-L] Still seeking Stephens, Phelps Ancestry

It's been a while since I asked for information, so maybe some new readers
will have what I need. My great-grandfather, Henry L. Stephens was born May
12, 1826, in Frederick Co., Va. (according to the family Bible, whose
genealogy page begins with him). He married Mary E. Phelps on Feb. 24, 1852.
I know that they lived for a while in Clarke Co. Clarke Co. records
corroborate the family Bible in mentioning two children who were born and
died in Clarke Co. Violet R. Stephens (born/died Feb 1, 1853, and Marion B.
Stephens (born/died February 16, 1856). Later the couple moved to Missouri,
then back to Wood Co., (now W.Va) where they settled and raised the rest of
their family, including my grandfather, Olin Orville Stephens.

I have reached the proverbial brick wall with Henry L. and Mary E. (Phelps)
Stephens. I cannot find a track that leads any further back. If anyone has
information about either of my great-grandparents, I would appreciate hearing
from you.
