Mary Jo:
If you can find a copy of Eugene Scheel's
"Culpeper - A Virginia Colony's History
Through 1920, you will find two mentions
in the index of Curry T. Guinn (who
happens to be a very distant cousin of
mine).
The first mention is on p. 299 when GUINN
and other Culpeper businessmen began in
1911 a buy-at-home campaign. Another
cousin of mine, Robert Lee ROSSON, was
involved in a similar effort in 1909. Mail-
order houses, apparently, were undercutting
local merchants and they didn't like it!
The second mention is on p. 307, naming J.
Russell Guinn and C. T. Guinn, among
others were involved in High School athletics
(football, to be specific).
Apparently this C.T. Guinn was of a different
generation than Curry T. Guinn (maybe a son).
The book has nothing more specific that what
I have quoted. But the index has seven Guinn
entries:
Billy
G. Brothers Grocery
C.T.
Curry T.
Florence
J. Russell
Susie I.
More than likely, all these Guinns are members
of the same extended family.
BTW: Culpeper has no doubled "P"s -- NOT
culpePPer!
Good luck with your search.
