The Baptists and Methodists were the only ones who used lay ministers, going
west and to the frontier; blacksmith or farmers all week but handled
religious duties for their frineds and neighbors ( and received no pay). The
Anglicans and Presbyterians used seminary trained ministers, sent only to
established churchs and regions. Many of the Presbyterians bacame Methodist
on the frontier.
