Subject: [VACULPEP] CHILTON family in Missouri--PICKETT, ASHBY and TUTT?

Ok... this is my last try on the CHILTONs today....
Some CHILTON family members migrated to Cooper Co Missouri from Farquier
Co, VA. Stephen Chilton and his wife Susan and their children:
Henrietta, Samuel, Thomas, Hezikiel, Henry, Mariah, Charles (lawyer in
Boonville) married (Emma or Mary Anna) Bettie Chilton and Joseph Warren
Chilton m. Bettie Wyatt. My ancestor Agnes and Charles Gray were slaves
in the Charles Chilton family who came to MO from Virginia.
I recently found a land record that was of interest for John Chilton:
August 24, 1776, 24 November 1777 Land purchased of DeButts to be sold
and the money divided among children they of age: Joseph, Lucy, George
and Nancy, Executors to give
children such education as the estate can afford. To son Thomas, land
given me by my father, where I have lately lived. Exrs; Charles Chilton,
Major Martin Pickett, Thomas Keith, Wit. Samuel Boyd, John Blackwell,
John Asby, Jr., Isham Keith and John Blackwell Jr.
For those interested:
John Chilton married Letitia Blackwell
Their children were:
Thomas m. Jane Corbin
George m. Mary Ellen Ball
Nancy m. Augustine Smtih
Lucy m. John Ransdall
Joseph m. Mary Ann Smith
John's brother Charles Chilton was one of the Executors of his will...
he married the sister of Letitia Blackwell... Elizabeth Blackwell. I
would like to know what the Ashby connection is... I know the ASHBY
family also married into the TUTT family.
I don't know what the connection is to the PICKET family?
Also of interest is the marriage of Charles Chilton and Bettie Blackwell
Dec. 18, 1760. Their daughter Bettie Chilton married Hugh Rogers Jr., In
Cooper County, MO. I also have ancestors in this family in 1870.. still
living with the ROGERS family. Bettie was born 1843; d. 1890.
Interesting... here's the information from June:
Bill of Sale
James Gray to John Chilton and Martin Pickett ... one servant named
Thomas Harrison, one Negro woman names Shillis ...horses, cattle, and
real estate and personal estate $100. Articles to James Scott and
Martin Pickett and whole of Estate, real and personal to John Chilton
and Martin Pickett. Witnesses: Charles Chilton, John Blackwell, Jr.
Recorded 2/27/1775
