I have a copy of the May 26, 1728 letter of endorsement which was published in the Virginia Historical Magazine, in which Gov. Gooch speaks well of Rev. Swift. There is also an entry in the Virginia Council Journals which says that Rev. Swift was later described by Gov. Gooch as "a bad man". Wonder what that's about.
