Hello List .... I'm newly on this list but not new to Culpeper Co. (& Rappahannock Co, established c1835) research.

I'm not well informed on Culpeper Co records however, and request that some list member(s) who is experienced in the Culpeper Records please consider giving me some info, or even better some suggestions.

My ancestor, 4th ggf Vincent Lake (spouse Anne maiden name unknown) died c1813 in (then Culpeper, now Rappahannock, Co) probably somewhere between Chester Gap and Little Washington.

I established the c1813 date thru the combined use of the US Census and Culpeper yearly tax records. His spouse, Anne maiden name unknown, was listed as Head of Household in the 1820 Census, and then she disappeared also.

I have searched, multiple times. in the LDS Salt Lake files for (1) the appropriate land and (2) probate records for Culpeper Co. for the period c1813. without success (I also made a trip, some years ago, to the Culpeper Court House and searched there with the same result).

Did I goof, or are the records for that period actually missing. If I did not goof, are there other Culpeper records which I could use to "work around" the supposedly missing records ???

If no one knows the answer to my question, can you give me the name/e-mail address of some one who is a Culpeper Co authority and who might have some info.
