Adam Poindexter DOWDY was grand uncle to John Thomas FLIPPEN. Adam Poindexter DOWDY's parents were John DOWDY & Nancy MARTIN. John Thomas FLIPPEN's mother was Lucy Jane DOWDY. Her parent's were John A. DOWDY & Missouri BAUGHAN. John A. DOWDY's parents were John DOWDY & Nancy MARTIN, making him brother to Adam Poindexter DOWDY.
I cannot help you with the land but maybe you could check it out at Cumberland Courthouse. I live in Maryland and am unable to travel anymore.
