Sorry it took so long to respond--and THANK YOU for the info. I didn't know Lucy Jane was a Dowdy. I now see that Poindexter was Robert Sidney's dad. Robert's daughter, Robert Alice, married John Thomas Flippen. I guess they're 1st or 2nd cousins. Lucy & husband, James Flippen, along with a gr mother must have died tragically around 1870 because all the children were orphaned at that time. J.T. Flippen's son was my gr father, Vernon Lester. He worked at Sidney and Sheldon Dowdy's furniture store in Richmond. He said that there many Dowdy graves behind Rose Cottage near Little Guinea Creek. He and son, Thomas, would hunt back there and Thomas would recall stepping over unmarked stones. Perhaps Poindexter is buried there. --I'm infrequently in front of a computer, which may delay my response a little.
