OBITUARY

Departed this life, on the 22nd last, Bennett Aldridge, aged eighty-one
years, nine months and fourteen days. He was a true patriot; his motto was at
all times "my country right or wrong." He was a member of the Petersburg
Artillery commanded by Jno. Minitree, and served two terms during the
American war of 1812. He is survived by only one of that gallant band.

BLANDFORD
(excerpted from an article about Blandford Cemetary)

Bennett Aldridge, who had his tomb built many years before his death, now
rests here. He used to visit it often, and took great comfort to his heart
that the place was bricked up well and the devil couldn't get him.
