Ginny,
I noticed in the Bucks County PA census for 1790 there are two James MOON listed
as the head of household. The one on page 51 has 4 Free white males age 16+, 3
free white males under 16, and 5 free white females. The one on page 55 has 3
Free white males age 16+, 2 free white males under 16, and 4 free white females.
On page 56, a Samuel MOON has 3 Free white males age 16+, 4 free white males under
16, and 5 free white females; and Jasper MOON has 1 Free white males age 16+, 4
free white males under 16, and 4 free white females.
I have a bunch of JANNEYs moving from Bucks Co, PA to Alexandria, VA in my family,
but none of the first names you mention. The 1790 Bucks County census does not
have any JANNEY names, so I think they had all gone to VA by then. I haven't
found them in early Virginia censuses, but I'm still looking. My JANNEYs married
a MILLER family in Alexandria. I'm particularly interested in tracing back a
MORGAN who also married this MILLER family. Popular names are so much harder!
Let me know when you find other JANNEY names and I'll bet we get a connection.
