Roger,

I have two other citations to your Thomas Lester:

1. From an index of Fairfax Deeds 1742-1797, Thomas Ludwell Lee registered
leases of properties to several tenants at the same time -- some time between
1765 and 1770 -- the text of which were entered in the now-missing Deed
Book H:

"Lee, Thomas L. to Jacob Hubbard 93

same to Daniel Jenkins 98

same to Ralph Cotton 102

same to George Williams 107

same to Robert Davis 111

same to Sam'l Thompson 115

same to Thomas Lyister [Lester] 119"

This citation in this index is the first known record of my 5grgrandfather,
George Williams. I have been researching these men on the premise that
identifying where they came from might give me clues to where my George
Williams might have been prior to this lease.

2. In "Early Church Records of Alexandria City and Fairfax County, F. Edward
Wright, Family Line Pubs. 1996, p. 66;

Christ Church Vestry Book, 14 Oct. 1767

"- binding John Perkins, an orphan, age nine years an apprentice to Thomas
Lister who is to learn him the trade of shoemaker and to read and write
English.

- binding Ann Sperling, a bastard child, age eight to george Williams who
is to learn her to read and write English."

In "The Story of Oakton, Virginia: 1758-1990", D'Anne Evans, published
by the Optimist Club of Oakton, there is a map of the locations of the
Lee tenant farmers. Thomas Lester's farm is along Hunter Mill Road, about
halfway between Chain Bridge Road and Vale Road. George Williams is along
Vale Road, a short distance from Hunter Mill Road. What remains of the
old Williams family cemetery is on the grounds of St. Marks Catholic Church.

That's all I know about Thomas Lester. If you have any information which
might help me figure out George Williams' origins, I would greatly appreciate
hearing from you. If you think it would help you to know more about Thomas
Ludwell Lee and the other co-tenants with our two ancestors, I would be
happy to share what results I have to date.
