Reunion is a great Macintosh program with good technical support. The
developer, Leister Productions, provides upgrades about every 1-1 1/2 years,
to meet the needs of the users. Version 7 is the current version. Phone
support is provided for free, but you must pay for a long distance call to PA.

Reunion v7 requires a Power Macintosh with a CD-ROM drive and system software
version 7.6 or newer. I believe they can also supply Reunion on floppy disks,
if necessary; not sure, though. Owners of pre-Power Macs may be able to buy
an earlier version of Reunion which has less demanding requirements.

We have a great mailing list which is monitored by the technicians from the
company and they answer any questions which are not answered by the other
subscribers. All the messages on the mailing list are archived on their web
site, as well as articles written by some of the more advanced users. There
are many highly skilled Macintosh users who subscribe to the list and they
are very willing to answer questions.

Reunion compares to the Windows program, The Master Genealogist (TMG), in
options provided, and actually offers options not provided in TMG. The beauty
of Reunion is that, even with all its options, it is easy to use.

Do _not_ plan on using Family Tree Maker (FTM) for storing or creating
reports; it is years behind in upgrades. You may want it to read some of
FTM's CDs, in which case, order it from a catalog like MacWarehouse, as it
may be much cheaper than your local store. Or, you can get Virtual PC and run
FTM's (Windows) free viewer. I use Virtual PC. I find it fascinating to run
both systems at once, switching back and forth as I need, and dragging files
from one side to the other.

Please feel free to ask any other questions. If I think of something else,
I'll post it.
