Believe, according to census records, that Fred is the
Great Great Grandson of Elizabeth Cooper and Stephen Ferguson.
Great Grandson of Edward and Martha Ferguson Ladue.
Grandson of Edwin LaDue
Son of George W. and Virginia (maiden name unk.) LaDue.
This family has very early Dutchess County New York Roots.
Have much information to share on the Cooper/Ferguson Lines.
Seek to determine parents of Edward LaDue b. abt. 1833 NY d. Aft. 1880.
Am wondering if any of the descendants still live on the Ferguson Family Farm in Centerville.
Stephen Ferguson died in VA. 1855. Seek to find his burial. His wifes 1863 NY Will says she was forced to leave her home in VA because of the Civil War - In her will she leaves the farm in VA to her daugthers Martha Ladue and Margaret Ann Cooper [she's the wife of Cornelius Cooper living in NY 1880) - Elizabeth Cooper Ferguson is buried in Fishkill Rurall Cemetery, Dutchess County, NY
***********************
Dutchess County, NY Will of Elizabeth Cooper Ferguson made 1863 - she died the same year.
[Excerpts]
I, Elizabeth Ferguson, widow of Stephen Ferguson, dec'd, now a resident of
Fishkill in the county of Dutchess, State of New York, being driven by
the civil war from my home in Virgina, sensible of the uncertainty of
life, do make this my last Will and Testament to wit:
I give and bequeath to my two daughters, Margaret Ann Cooper and Martha
Ladue, the farm which I own in Virginia to be equally divided, acre for
acre between them, the woodland to be equally divided, North & South.
***************************
Stephen and Elizabeth Cooper Ferguson are my children's 5th great grandparents on their father's side and on my maternal side there are connections to the Ladue Family.
Stephen and Elizabeth Cooper Ferguson moved to VA (sometime after 1835 when Stephen is listed in his father's probate petition as living in Poughkeepsie, Dutchess County, NY) from Dutchess County New York.
>From Census information it appears this LaDue Line has been in Centerville since at least 1850 - Edward and Martha Ferguson LaDue and children are living in Fairfax in the 1850 Cenus with Stephen and Elizabeth Cooper Ferguson. - All b. NY.
Thank you in Advance
Any Help Appreciated.
