Subject: Mattingly marriage prior to 1830

Hello,
Wondering if anyone would be able to tell me where I might locate information
on a Mattingly marriage prior to 1830. John Mattingly was living in DC but
was living in the Moorefield, VA area in 1827 when his son, Thomas Joseph
Mattingly, was born and then in 1828 was in the Weston, VA area where he was
working in the clerk's office. I believe that he returned to the DC area around
1830.

I'm guessing that John Mattingly married prior to 1830 but he is not listed
in the DC marriage books. I'm hoping that he may have married in the
Alexandria/Fairfax area. Would anyone have any idea where I might locate a marriage
record for that time? Although his family was Catholic, John may not have
married in that church.
