Hello,
I have all the cemetery volumes. Volume III Fairfax Co Virginia Gravestones
by Fairfax Genealogical Sociaty, Inc 1996 - There is listed under Falls
Church Area Cemeteries one called "The Falls Church Cemetery- FC1.
There is a long history (2 pages) on this in the book. To outline areas of
importance ...
The Falls Church Cemetery surrounds the old chapel at Falls Church
Episcopal Church, 115 East Fairfax St, in the hear of the City of Falls Church, near
the intersection of Washington St (Route 29) and Broad Street (Route 7). The
graveyard was the primary cemetery for the Falls Church area until Oakwood
Cemetery was established in 1885. surveys were conducted in 1923, circa 1939,
1989, and 1995.
It had in 1734 a wooden church built on the site, and was the first new
church built in Truro Parish after the parish was established by the colonial
General Assemby in 1732.
In 1762, according to the church's history, the vestry of the Falls Church
planned a new brick church to be built at the site. George Washington and
George William Fairfax were appointed to oversee this project, but the French
and Indian War delayed these plans.
Ok, I'll stop there as it gets long and involved. You can see the history
has very influential people. Could this be the one you are looking for? If
so, I will scan and post entire history.
Hope this helps.
Anne
