As a matter of fact, Virginia certainly had townships for the 1850 census.

| handful of townships. Virginia would appear to be the eastern exception,

| the rule. That, of course, doesn't mean that all those townships existed
| before the Revolution.

| A couple more things. Virginia doesn't have townships. That's a western
| thing. Virginia was developed under the crown and the old English system
of
| districts and counties.
|
| The Falls Church certainly does still exist. It's a beautiful, large,
| colonial church standing prominently on a hill. It was built before the
| Revolution. Its congregation is very proud of it and maintains it well. I
| believe it is open for tours and tourists at certain times.
