Suzanne:

According to "Some Early Families of Clarke Co., VA" Eliza T. [or F]
WILLINGHAM, b. 1849, is the 10th child of William Willingham, b. ca
1804 and Matilda Alexander who he married 12/15/1829. This says she was
born in WVA but WVA didn't exist then - maybe it was a portion of what
was old Frederick Co.

This says that William Alexander came to America when he was 16 and
settled in Fauquier but soon moved to the area of Frederick Co. that is
now considered Clarke Co. He reportedly came from somewhere in England
called Willingham, according to family legend.

William and Matilda are my 3rd great-grandparents. I descend through
their son Jacob Henry aka "Jake" who was in Lee's Bodyguard for the 39th
VA Battalion Cavalry according to "History of Clarke Co."

Haven't found the right George Willingham yet and don't see any
Utterback's but I've more to go through. Thought I'd let you know at
least this much. You know, I could swear I've seen a George Willingham
in Fauquier data. I'll see what I have on Willingham's in Fauquier,
too.

Ain't this fun???
