This confused me a bit as the building I'd long known as "Ashby's Tavern" in
Fauquier was in Paris and was torn down many years ago after a truck ran
through it on Rt. 50.
The "Ashby's Tavern" that has been nominated for the National Register of
Historic Places was Robert Ashby of Delaplane's [then called Piedmont
Station, I believe]tavern. I didn't know there were two taverns of the same
name within 6 miles of each other.
You can find photo's and info on the Paris Ashby's Tavern at the Library of
Congress http://memory.loc.gov/ammem/collections/habs_haer/index.html
Put Ashby's Tavern into the search engine and it will take you to it.
