Maybe third time is the charm. I've tried posting this 2 other times now w/o success!
The William Elsea that you wrote about is my husband's great-great-great-great grandfather. William had a son named Moses (Sr) who had a son named Moses (Jr.). Moses (Jr) married Angeline Hartman. If you are interested, I'd be happy to share the info (birth/death, marriage, children, etc) from Moses and Angeline to present day.
I need help in finding William Elsea in VA. As you probably already know, the 1790 & 1800 census for VA were destroyed and I can't find Elsea on the tax rolls. Likewise, I'm stymied in find Elsea on the VA/OH census up to 1840 when they should be in Pickaway Co & / or Hancock Co.
I've tried every conceivable spelling including using Soundex.
Also, I don't know the family's origin or when they arrived in the US. Any help?
Look forward to hearing from you.
Linda
