I hope you might have some info on Joseph SAMPLE. The one I'm interested in married 1825 Frederick Co, VA to Mary BARTLETT, widow of Sanford BARTLETT ( who had been an officer in War 1812) - this Mary may well have been Mary COCHRAN, who was the widow of Abraham SHANK. I would like very much to know what happened to this Joseph SAMPLE; and when Abraham SHANK died (and if he left children, who might have been stepchildren to Sanford BARTLETT) For more on this story, please see my post at:

FYI:
a Mary COCHRAN was dau of Robert COCHRAN b c1740 and Jane
a Mary COCHRAN may have 1m a FLANNIGAN
a Mary m 14 Mary 1806 Frederick Co, VA Abraham SHANK
Robert COCHRAN and wife Jane sold a lot in Winchester to Mary SHANK (Frederick Co, VA Deed 21 Dec 1814) - this may indicate that Abraham SHANK was dec'd by then...
After Abraham SHANK died, Mary is then reported to have married a Lieut BARTLETT (would fit Lieut Sanford BARTLETT - there probably weren't too many Lieut BARTLETTs in Winchester area just after the War 1812...)
Sanford BARTLETT died 1817; Mary BARTLETT is in 1820 Frederick Co, VA census; then she marries Joseph SAMPLE.

I'm not sure all these Mary's are the same - I'm trying to sort that out (any help is welcome); and to find the names of Sanford BARTLETT's children.
