Very interested in posts I have read concerning research being done on Johannes (Kleiz),wife Catherina (Guth),son Frederich,who removed from Palatine Germany,1752,with Johannes Hetzel,to Pa. I believe I may have found descendants of this family in Pa/Va. also spelled Glaze/Glaize. Have a Frederick (Glaze) of Lancaster Co.,Pa.,served with Capt.Martin Bowman,Rev.War. Have a George (Glaize) in early records,Frederick Co.,Va.,wife reported to be Catherine Hetzel,George Glaize's father reported to be Frederick,b.Germany,removed to Pa./Va. Have several spellings in Pa.Rev.War records,John/Jacob/Adam/Christian/Henry. Also in Md.Rev War records. I have a John Glaze b.1777 Va.m.Nancy Hoover b.Va.of Rockingham Co.,Va.,removed to Rutherford Co.,Tn.1810 census. Per Matthias Hoover's estate records,Oct.1824, Rutherford Co.,Tn.John Glaze was an heir,husband of Nancy Hoover dec'd. Nancy Hoover was doubtless a daughter of Matthias Hoover,Pa./Rockingham Co.,Va.to Rutherford Co.Tn. Hoover/G!
laze researchers state,family legend is John Glaze spoke only German. This does not match two accounts of Lawrence Glaze of Tn,removed Ireland or England to Greene Co.,Tn. Hoover/Glaze researchers assumed John Glaze b.1777 Va. was a son of Lawrence Glaze of Tn. And since Erhardt Glaze/Kloess/Kloss/Leess (Germany) to Pa.,1738,also had a son Lawrence Glaze/Leess b.1744 Lancaster Co.,Va.,removed to Hampshire Co.,Va.,this connection was made. However,accounts of Lawrence Glaze,w/ Mary of Hampshire Co.,Va.,deed record 1786 do not match Lawrence Glaze,Greene Co.,Tn.tax list,1783. John Glaze b.1777 Va. d.1855 Mo. may have been a grandson of Erhardt Glaze ,but not through Lawrence Glaze of Tn. This John Glaze could just as well be descended from Johannes (Kleiz),as I suspect son Frederick,had a son George (Glaize) wife Catherine Hetzel in Frederick Co.,Va.
